Bournemouth is located in England and is a coastal resort town located in the Borough of Bournemouth. With a population of 163,444 Bournemouth is the largest settlement in Dorset, which also makes it the largest town on the south coast and the largest settlement by population between Plymouth and Southampton. Bournemouth was founded by a gentleman by the name of Lewis Tregonwell in 1810 and it saw a huge boom in population when the railway made its way to this region around 1870. Bournemouth has separated from the Dorset County Council since 1997 when it began to be administered by a unitary authority.
