Cambridge is home to many important organizations such as colleges, laboratories, chapels, and hospitals. The city is also located in the center of an area that is known as Silicon Fen, which is a high technology area that is well known in the United Kingdom.
Cambridge is perhaps best known because of the University of Cambridge. This is a university that is very well thought of all around the world. In addition to the University of Cambridge the city is also home to the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge University Library, and the King’s College Chapel. Cambridge is also home to two very visible buildings in the area which are Addenbrooke’s hospital and the St. John’s College Chapel.
While the city is very well known today, it is a very old city. In fact, people have been settling in the area of Cambridge since before the Roman empire and the earliest remains that have been discovered are more than 3,500 years old! While there is evidence of occupancy dating back to the 1st century BC, there was not major settlements in the area until about AD 40.
Today Cambridge is one of the larger settlements in the area. The town is very much built around the university with most of the major buildings being associated with Cambridge University. There are also many high tech businesses in the area, which have resulted in many science parks that are located in and around the city of Cambridge, and are a draw for many people.
Cambridge has a big draw for sports fans. The town has a football team as well as a rugby team. In Cambridge water sports are also very popular. Of course, the town also offers a great theatre so many people come to the area just to enjoy the productions on the stage. Between the beautiful architecture, arts, and sports tourism is a big business and is second only to the university population which is steady and responsible for much of the population of the area.
