Chester is a city that is located in Cheshire, England. The city is found on the River Dee and is relatively close to the border with Wales. Chester has a population of just over 77,000, although it is part of a larger region that includes Cheshire west, and this greater area has a population of over 328,000! Chester has been a city since 1541.
Chester is like most of the United Kingdom and has what is called an oceanic climate. The warmest month of the year is July with an average high of 68 degrees Fahrenheit. The coolest months of the year are generally January and February with a low of 36 degrees Fahrenheit.
Many people who visit Chester are taken by the city walls. These walls, also known as Rows are black and white and circle around the boundary of the city. The city walls measure more than two miles. Other items of interest in the city are St. Martin’s Gate, Watergate, Bridgegate, New Gate, and the Wolf Gage. In addition there is the Phoenix Tower, Morgan’s Mount, and the Goblin Tower. One of the most awe inspiring items to see in the city is the East Gate Clock, which is the second most photographed clock in England after only Big Ben.
Chester has many things to see and due and the culture of the city is definitely touched by these items. The Chester City Football club is located in the city. The city also has a professional basketball team and the Chester Rugby Club. There is also the Chester Racecourse attracts tens of thousands of people annually and the River Dee attracts people who enjoy water sports. Chester is always attracting people due in large part because of everything that is going on in and around the city.
