Dover is a town located in Kent, which is located in South East England. The town of Dover is also a principal ferry port. Dover looks in the direction of France across the English Channel, although it looks across the English Channel at one of the most narrow parts. The town is found south and east of Canterbury, west of Maidstone, and north and east of Dungeness and Hastings. Dover serves as the administrative center of the Dover District.
Dover is relatively well known in England because of its geography. It is located in an area where it is surrounded by chalk cliffs and where the Channel tunnel hits land. The area is where people come and go to Britain and has been settled in since the Stone Age, according to some archeological findings.
Dover is important to Britain because of where it is found geographically. Swimming in the English Channel is a highly publicized event but sea fishing, and visiting the beaches is a favorite past time of residents and is often enjoyed by tourists.
