Inverness is a city that is located in northern Scotland and is the capital of the Highlands of Scotland. The city can be found near the site where the Battle of Culloden took place. Many people known Inverness as it is the city that is found where the River Ness meets the Morry Firth, which makes it a natural place for transportation. The city of Inverness was founded in the sixth century AD with a royal charter being granted by King David I in the 12th century. The population today shows that this is a city that still has a lot of things going on. The population of Inverness has increased by 10% between 1997 and 2007 and has an estimated population of about 54,000. It has been said that the city will likely grow by another 40% in the next two decades. Growing so fast, Inverness is now known as the fastest growing city in Europe and is ranked the fifth best or all British cities for the quality of life that is offers.

Inverness College is responsible for many of the people who choose to settle in the area. It is found in the city and offers university level courses. There has been talk over the last several years about adding a second campus to help accommodate the students who are sure to flock t the college as the population continues to increase over the next two decades.

The Highland games are a must see if you are going to be in Inverness. This is the premier sporting event for the area and attracts people from all around the world to the city. Inverness is also a gathering place for bagpipe players and lovers since Inverness is where the Northern Meeting is held, which is a bagpipe competition.
