Luton City Guide |
Luton is a town that is located in Hampshire, England. The town is located in a valley that is at the source of the River Loddon and is about 50 miles south and west of London and 30 miles north and ease of Southhampton. The town has an estimated population of about 80,500.
The interesting thing about Luton is that it is an old market town that was expanded in the 1960’s due to an agreement between London County Council and Hampshire County Council. The expansion was done quickly to help with the overflow of residents from the London area. Today the area is flourishing with a very low rate of unemployment and an above average median income and standard of living. Prescription drug manufacturing, IT, communications, insurance, and electronics are some of the bigger industries located in Luton.
The town has many interesting things to see and do such as the Aquadrome swimming pool, an ice rink, bowling alley, bingo club, and ten screen movie theatres. For those that like history, the Milestones Museum should be considered a must see while in Luton. There are also many different sports leagues and social groups that residents can join and tourists can enjoy watching from time to time. While the town is rather small in geographical area and population, there is a lot to see and do when in the area. Those who attend the areas university level schools often find that the night life and social possibilities more than make up for the smaller size of the town because they are never without something fun and exciting to do.
