Glastonbury is a small town that is located in Somerset, England. The town is located about 30 miles south of Bristol. Glastonbury is in the Mendip District and has a population of less than 9,000. There are many well known landmarks and events that happen in this area, making up for the small population and relatively small size. Glastonbury is perhaps best known for the myths and legends associated with it. For instance, the legends associated with Joseph of Arimathea, the Holy Grail, and King Arthur are all said to have taken place in Glastonbury.
There are some interesting landmarks in Glastonbury such as the Tribunal, which is a medieval merchant’s house. It was also used as the Abbey courthouse and is now a museum that features many works of art from the Glastonbury Lake Village, all of which are in excellent condition. Another landmark worth taking note of is the octagonal Market Cross that was built in 1846. The Somerset Rural Life Museum is another must see, as it features the social as well as agricultural history of the area.
Glastonbury is perhaps best known for its history and the history can be enjoyed today by tourists as well as residents. You may want to visit the Glastonbury lake Village, the Glastonbury Abbey, the Somerset Rural Life Museum, and the Glasonbury Tor.
